Drone Propeller Design

Design a drone propeller concept in your browser, from its diameter and pitch to the distributions along each blade. PropShaper supports live geometry, reference data, analysis and matched rotation exports in one studio.

Start from your motor and battery

Quick design, the default panel, asks for motor kV, battery cells and capacity, the ESC current limit, all-up weight, motor count, flying style and the largest prop that fits your frame. It picks diameter, pitch and blade count, checks thrust-to-weight, current and tip speed, estimates hover time, and fits the blade to your motor mount (T-mount, M5, T-Motor bolt patterns and more).

Choose a size or measured reference

Start with editable 3-inch, 5-inch, 7-inch or 15-inch presets, or open a sourced reference from the UIUC Propeller Data Site. The presets are original starting geometries. Reference entries load published chord and twist data, while airfoil sections and motor interfaces remain separately defined.

Inspect thrust, power and tip speed

Set RPM in the Fluid panel and advance speed in Performance. PropShaper evaluates the current blade geometry with a blade-element momentum model and exposes its assumptions on the Methods page. The validation gate compares selected small reference props against UIUC measurements; that does not validate every user-created shape or account for blade flexibility and compressibility.

Export the right rotation

The export panel offers one propeller or a CW/CCW pair as STL meshes, plus STEP for supported solid designs. Verify the motor shaft, screw pattern and rotation convention. Printed props are bench prototypes: mesh validity does not establish strength at flight RPM.

Fit your motor

Browse the hub standards: bore, bolt pattern and pin dimensions for common drone, RC, e-foil and trolling motor mounts, with sources.

Understand the calculations

Read the geometry, performance and export methods for assumptions and validation, or use the propeller analysis API.
